Applications of high-power klystrons in particle accelerators: technical requirements and needs

This paper presents the needs and applications of high-power klystrons for electron and proton accelerators. Particle accelerators are very important for many industrial, scientific and medical Applications. Several electron accelerators like 20MeV microtron, 10MeV electron Linac, 450 MeV Synchrotron Radiation Source Indus-1 and 2 GeV Synchrotron Radiation Source Indus-2. These electron accelerators require RF cavities to accelerate the electrons to higher energies by means of the electric field gradient generated by the RF accelerating cavities supplied by RF and Microwave tubes at various frequencies. Details of the klystron-based microwave systems are brought up in this paper. © Anita Publications. All rights reserved.
