Manipulation of self-written waveguides

Dedicated in memory of Prof John Sheridan

The fabrication of self-trapping waveguides within a photopolymer material and the resultant permanent self-written waveguides (SWWs) and their relationship are explored. Multiple light beams illuminate the photopolymer material, and a study of their interactions is carried out. The manipulation of the self-writing process helps to create self-written coupled waveguides (SWCWs), but it also distorts other waveguides within the same process. This action, and the effect of angles of intersection and angles of incidence are inspected and explored. © Anita Publications. All rights reserved.
