Dedicated to Prof Kehar Singh on the occasion of his 84th Birthday on July 3, 2025

Self-evolving vector Bessel beams are vortex wave fields that periodically reproduce their polarization states in successive transverse planes. Besides acquiring geometric phase on propagation, these fields exhibit orbital and spin angular momentum. Vector Bessel beams, represented on higher-order Poincaré spheres, can be created by means of nanostructured metasurfaces, making the fields compatible with integrated photonics platforms. We address judicious generation of vector Bessel beams and perfect vortex beams, and discuss the conservation properties of the geometric phase and total angular momentum associated with self-evolving vector Bessel beams. © Anita Publications.
