The paper proposes a cryptosystem for double color images based on wavelength multiplexing, leveraging indexed images and phase retrieval algorithms. The encryption process begins with the conversion of color images into indexed images, followed by an affine transformation to enhance security. The transformed images are then processed using a phase retrieval algorithm in the Fresnel domain to generate ciphertext, introducing nonlinearity into the cryptosystem. While the encryption process involves a complex setup with phase retrieval algorithms, the decryption is straightforward and computationally efficient, enabling implementation on hybrid systems. The proposed cryptosystem is rigorously evaluated against statistical attacks, noise attacks, and data loss attacks. Simulation results demonstrate its robustness and resilience to these threats. Additionally, the system’s key sensitivity is analyzed, revealing a sufficiently large key space to thwart brute-force attacks. A comparative analysis with existing multi-image encryption schemes highlights the advantages of the proposed cryptosystem, showcasing its superior security against both basic and specialized attacks. This work establishes a secure and efficient framework for double color image encryption, with potential applications in secure communication and data storage. © Anita Publications.
